How do you find peace and when living a life of anxiety? When fear and worry grip your hearts? Philippians 4:4-7 promises peace that “transcends all understanding”. How can we find peace that only God can give when your mind is racing and you can’t focus because of anxious thoughts?. We learn from the story of Daniel that prayer is our first response! Use anxiety as an alert to start praying and as 1 Thessalonians 5:17 states it: never stop praying. Daniel surrendered to and trusted God in everything and was met with salvation from the lion’s den. But Daniel’s story points us to Jesus, who surrendered to the Father, was faithful to the end, and died for our sins so that we can have a relationship with God through prayer and scripture.

Everyone is prone to worry. At its root, worry is forgetfulness. Jesus taught a large crowd of worriers how they could overcome. By looking at the birds and the flowers He showed us that when we worry we forget our value, our Father, and our purpose. What would your life be like if you could forget to worry?! Replace worry with worship by trusting in the God who is in full control.

All of us know what it is like to be overwhelmed by stress, anxiety, and fear and play out scenarios in our minds. We can allow the worst-case scenario to be the narrative that shapes us; but how often do those worries come true? From prison, Paul wrote, “Be anxious for nothing.” Elijah experienced God’s power, protection, provision, and presence, yet he made four mistakes we can make that lead us to live with anxiety. Discover why even the worst-case scenarios aren’t bad for believers. Because of Jesus, we can trust that the Lord is near!

There are three key parts of our lives: Identity, Mission, and Vision. Apart from Jesus, each one of those pieces is temporary and can be lost without any notice. The resurrected Savior appeared to Peter and the disciples for “The Last Breakfast” on the beach. It was there that he restored Peter after he denied Him three times. Because Jesus is alive, we can live with a sure hope that not even death can take away! Everyone who believes and accepts Jesus receives eternal life!

Life is messy. It seems like all of our plans from last month won’t work this month as we continue to navigate COVID-19. Following Jesus in the messes of life can be messy too! So what should we do? By healing the man born blind, Jesus gives us some incredible truths to guide us in the mess. The gospel leads us to ask more vertical questions and less horizontal questions. The One who said, “Let there be light” declares “Let there be sight” so we can trust God in the mess. We will see miracles as we walk by faith. Spiritual blindness is cured as we look to Jesus!

How do we navigate the storms of life? COVID-19 is continuing to spread and with it, so is fear. We can reach in: to muscle up and find our solution in ourselves. We can reach out: lean on the power of other people. We can reach up: trust in the I AM and allow Him to take control. The disciples were in the middle of nowhere in a storm when the water walker appeared. They “let him in the boat” and immediately arrived where they were going. The result of giving Jesus control is arriving on the shore of peace.

How do you respond when a BIG crisis happens? It is so easy to be overwhelmed by the immensity of a situation, that we become self-focused and do nothing to help others. When the problem is too big and the resources are too small, the stage is set for a miracle! Jesus already knows what He is going to do! We can trust Him, live generously, and become waiters that meet the needs of others! God gave his first and his best by sending Jesus to this world to be lifted up on a cross so we could be saved!

Mercy is something we all need, yet it’s something we all struggle to give. Who are you withholding mercy from today? At Bethesda, the house of mercy, the merciful Savior healed a paralyzed man who was overlooked for 38 years; he didn’t deserve to be healed. Jesus showed him the greatest need wasn’t new legs, but a new heart. When we humbly come to Jesus, we experience the miracle of mercy. Our mercy to each other comes from God’s mercy to us.

Trust is essential in any relationship. Is it possible to trust Jesus? How can we have faith in seasons where we feel like giving up? A royal official made a long journey to ask Jesus to come and heal his son. Their conversation and Jesus’ second miracle shows us that the true sign we need in order to declare Jesus as Lord is the resurrection. We can trust Jesus along the “twenty mile journeys” in life because He is the risen Savior!
